Do Wyoming's Presidential Elections have More Voters then are Registered?
Incomplete data suggests otherwise. "**This value is reflective of those individuals registered to vote by the close of business on the day before the Primary and General Elections. This number does not include election day registrations which are authorized as per W.S. 22-3-104."
Why isn't the data, for the table below, updated, by Wyoming's Secretary of State Office, showing post election registered voter numbers?
Statements
- The reported number of registered voters, are those registered to vote, by the close of the business day before the Primary or General Election.
- Wyoming's voter history dataset can be requested from the Secretary of State's Election Division at Elections@wyo.gov.
- Wyoming's voter history dataset, is exported to a file, on October 1st after the Primary election and on January 1st after the General election.
- The effective registration date is a column label.
- Making this column equal to the day of the election, voters that "effectively" registered on election day can be counted.
- Adding, pre-election and post-election day registered voters, results in the final registered voter count.
- The Office of the Secretary of State, periodically, purges the voter roll.
Questions
- Secretary Gray: Is the data and the calculations, stated above, accurate?
- Can the registered voter list, presently, be accessed by the public?
- Does this list account for all verified voters, added after the verification process, post election?
- Is there a concern about the fluctuations in our registered voter list?
- Does this purge, referenced above, account for the variations shown in the table below?
Legend
- Bold black is for Turnout of the Population Registered to Vote percents above 100.
- Calculated by: (voter_turnout / number_of_registered_voters) * 100
- Green is for percents below 50.
