Open County Checkbook, maybe not, OpenGov

Is OpenGov right for Sheridan County and it’s tax districts?

Check out Converse County’s checkbook website at https://conversecountywy.opengov.com.

Given the county’s interest in conducting a forensic audit of our finances, why not get the county’s transactional record to the point that a service like OpenGov could be used. It is an idea worth considering. Further making that data available to the public would allow for better public scrutiny and discussion of taxation and spending.

I am not advocating for OpenGov. I am advocating that Sheridan County’s citizens should be informed. I am advocating that the People of Sheridan County should do as much of the work ourselves to ensure the best stewardship of the taxpayer’s dollar before paying other to assist, yet that requires that ability to work with the data.

What needs to change in Sheridan County to make the data readily available?
