Is Government Sustainable Without Both Directed and Limited Power?

Reply: Mel Logan, Sheridan Press, Sept 6th, 2025

"Opposition, including competition, is diminishing. The voices representing the interests of the people is shrinking while the power at the top is concentrating."

"Social and political action must be central to our lives. Is it? If not, when we complain, we have only ourselves to blame." - Mel Logan

If I am understanding Mr. Logan, he is calling for greater civic involvement from the voters. I am asking, if other Wyoming voters think the same way?

For purposes of discussion, I am, defining some concepts.

  1. Voters in either of Wyoming's 2024 elections, or newly registered voters, constitute the voting population for Wyoming. From this population, sub-populations, such as counties, cities, towns, and precincts can be extracted.
  2. Majority agreement, would be more than half the population, in agreement, for any of the population stated above. This is, also, know as a consensus.
  3. A voters' priority, is a publish statement, that is supported by a consensus of voters.
  4. Support for a priority is demonstrated by publishing each supporter's name.
  5. Self publishing in readily available. If needed, this could be a topic for public dialog and education.
  6. Achieving a consensus, is individual voters growing support for priorities by initiating dialog with family, friends, colleagues and neighbors.
  7. The value of at least one consensus priority is; it creates a starting point for public dialog regarding government Of, By, & For the People.

Question:

Which of Wyoming’s 2026 budget session’s committee draft bills have priority with the voters? See https://www.wyoleg.gov/Legislation/committeeBills/2026.

I am suggesting that Wyoming voters, set a goal, of determining by the 1st of October 2025, if any Legislative Committee draft bills have a consensus of support. This deadline would leave time, for a consensus of voters, to work with Legislators to agree on the priorities for the 2026 Budget session.

In conclusion, Mel quoted, Thomas Jefferson “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.”
